Wispr Flow pricing, without the sales page fog
The short answer: $15 per month, or $144 per year if you commit annually, per person. There is a free tier with a weekly word cap, and team tiers above that. Here is the whole table as of 2026, then the math that the pricing page does not do for you.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2,000 words/week on desktop, 1,000/week on iPhone. Notetaker with a weekly meeting limit. |
| Pro (monthly) | $15/user/month | Unlimited dictation, advanced AI models, longer meeting retention, priority support. |
| Pro (annual) | $12/user/month, billed $144/year | Same as Pro, 20% off for the year-long commitment. |
| Growth / Enterprise | from $18/user/month annual, $23 monthly | SSO, provisioning, org-wide HIPAA enforcement, audit logs. |
Students and educators with an .edu email get 50% off Pro. Nonprofits get a discount too. Everyone else pays the sticker.
What the free tier really buys you
2,000 words per week sounds generous until you convert it to speech. People talk at roughly 130 to 150 words per minute, so the desktop cap is about fifteen minutes of dictation per week. That is a demo, not a plan. It is a good demo, though: you will know within those fifteen minutes whether voice-first writing suits you. Just do not budget your workflow around it, because anyone who likes dictation enough to keep it burns the cap by Tuesday.
The math over time
Subscriptions are rent, so the fair way to evaluate one is over the years you will actually use it. Dictation is not a passing tool: once it is in your muscle memory you use it daily, for years.
| 1 year | 2 years | 4 years | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wispr Flow Pro (annual) | $144 | $288 | $576 |
| Wispr Flow Pro (monthly) | $180 | $360 | $720 |
| SuperWhisper lifetime | $249.99 | $249.99 | $249.99 |
| Dictano (one-time) | ✓ $29 | ✓ $29 | ✓ $29 |
The comparison is not entirely apples to apples, and we will say so plainly: Wispr Flow transcribes in the cloud with its own models and does AI cleanup of your text, works on Windows and phones, and ships a meeting notetaker. Dictano does one thing: press a hotkey, speak, and Whisper large-v3-turbo running on your own Mac types clean text where your cursor is. If you need the extras, the subscription can be worth it. If you need dictation, it usually is not.
The cost that is not on the pricing page
Every word you dictate through Wispr Flow travels to their servers, because that is where the transcription happens. For most email and Slack traffic that is a shrug. For client work, contracts, patient notes, unreleased numbers, it is a data-processing agreement you are entering at $15 a month. The Growth tier's "org-wide HIPAA enforcement" line item exists precisely because this question comes up. A local app makes the question disappear: audio that never leaves the machine cannot be breached, subpoenaed, or used for training.
Same daily habit, no monthly bill
Dictano runs Whisper on your Mac. One hotkey, clean text at your cursor, audio never uploaded. $29 once, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
When Wispr Flow is worth the subscription
Credit where due, there are three profiles that get real value from the subscription: people who dictate on Windows or Android, where the local-Mac apps do not exist; teams that want the shared dictionary and centralized billing; and heavy users of the AI rewrite layer, where you mumble a stream of thought and let the model reshape it. If that is you, pay for the year, it is 20% cheaper.
If you are a Mac user who mostly wants accurate speech-to-text in every app, read our Wispr Flow alternative page for the local option, or the full field in best dictation software for Mac.
